#1 Activity for SDV 100
some of the things i learned were that having too many credit cards is not good for your credit history and that making your payment on time means a lot to your credit history, by doing this your credit history grows and get better, if this happens you would be able to buy a house easier, to buy a car, to get a loan and important things that we are going to need in the future. Also it is very important to be able to read an account statement and understand everything the bank or credit line is trying to tell you on that paper.
there are so many things we have to be aware of as an students, and grownups, we have to start thinking about our future and how to manage our money responsible.

1913 road-map
This road-map of success is very complete and true. The road to success is always going to be long and full of distractions and obstacles, but it depends on the person if you want to take shortcuts or the easier way to go, we all have to take the opportunities that come along with this road to your success in life, if they think they know everything and do not need to know anything else, or whatever they say is right it would not work out, you have to be humble and learn from other, accept your mistakes and learn from them. We all have to work hard and obtain a good reputation and maintain it that way the world will see us with good eyes and many doors would open. Leave the bad habits on the side or at least work on them and try to make them good habits also keep in mind your good morals and put them in practice. These are good things that are going to lead you to success.
I like this map a lot because it says the true and it shows how you can be successful or how you can be a failure. There is always going to be opportunities on your way, and you have to get the best out of them. Try your hardest and follow a system. A system consists in a set of elements that form a whole, does not matter what career or what might be your goal to get success it will have a system, and you would have to respect that system and follow it. This means there are rules to follow and by doing this you would be building and going in your road to success.
Success essay
If I ever want to be successful I have to do a lot of work and sacrifice some fun and good things and I know it is going to take me a while and hard work but with effort and dedication I can accomplish what I want and what I need. Right now I think I am doing well; I am attending to college, I am working to afford whatever my needs and pay my bills. Sometimes it is really hard, I feel weak and lazy and I do not want to keep going, sometimes I think it would be easier if I just stop going to school and work some more hours. But deep down I know that is not the true, that would not take me to success, it is just a short cut which at the end is going to bring me nothing but disappointments, sadness and more work to do. I could just stop paying for school and buy a new car, or get a cooler cell phone, or have more time to go out with my friends or simply do not have to worry about essays, math homework, reading boring books or anything related to school, but that is not going to give me a good future, that is not going to make my family proud, that is not going to make me happy or give me the material things I want in my life.
We all have to make sacrifices and work hard if we want to be big and successful, if we want to get somewhere along our lives, and that is exactly what I am doing right now. My mom always says to me that whatever I do I cannot stop studying because that would get me far. Right now all I can do is go to college, take the classes I need to get my two year degree, do my homework, do not miss class unnecessarily, get good grades and then transfer to a four year college and once I am there just keep going, keep doing the same, study, study, study, sacrifice some things, and do not forget what my mom tells me.

2.Briefly describe the 1 of the jobs that you selected.
3.Look at the description of the jobs you selected for the Career Assignment. Describe the types of work associated with each job. Was this what you expected? Did anything about the job description surprise you?
4.How would your personality type factor in to each of these jobs? Would you enjoy the job? Would you be frustrated by certain aspects of it? What other personality types would you expect to be working with?
1.My personality type is AK (Aural and Kinesthetic), I am also extrovert, sensing, thinker, and perceiver.
2.INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER was one of the jobs I selected, some of the skills that this job requires are creativity, be able to work as part of a team, take criticism in a positive way, and have technical knowledge. For this job I am going to need four years of college and training will be necessary. The average starting salary is 41,500 and after five years it would go up to 69,000.
3.Both of the jobs I selected has to do with design, the first one is Industrial design and the second one is Interior design, they involved a lot of creativity and technical thinking and knowledge, it takes the acceptation of criticism, be able to solve problems and be part of a working team. This jobs also required office hours and be inside most of the time. Four years of college are necessary and experience is required. I was expecting all this type of work and requirements for these jobs. The only thing that surprised me a little was the experience or training required to be able to work.
4.The sensing part of my personality might cause some problems because I cannot be asking every aspect of the work, I would have to look for a solution that make sense or just go with the correct answer instead of questioning why to everything. Something of my personality that would be good is the thinker part of my personality, I think I would have to be logical, analytical and would have to solve a lot of problems and puzzles. Being perceiver could affect my job if I am going to play first and then work, but I believe I can change and work on that aspect of my personality and finish my work first.

1) Describe the problem that you had in detail.
This week the only problem I had was finding a parking space and as a consequence of this, I was late to class. When I was getting out of my house I thought I had enough time to get to class on time but when I got to school there was a line of cars and no parking anywhere. I had to go all the way to the baseball field and walked a long distance. I got 15 minutes late to class and my teacher was not very happy.
2) Take a look at the five rebalancing strategies on pages 96-97 in your textbook .Pick one to use. In your blog entry, indicate which technique you used to deal with your time management problem. How did you use it? Was it a good solution to your problem? Why/why not?
Techflexing is the rebalancing strategies I choose. I think technology is a great element to keep everything organized and get access to everything faster and easier and from wherever I am. I can do homework from home on my computer or at work in my brake from my blackberry, where ever I am I have access to my homework and classes. I think if more motivating and fun if I have my computer or I can do some research online. It definitely makes my time more manageable and easy.
3) What other possible solutions could you have used to solve your problem?
For my parking problem the best I could do is wake up earlier in the morning and have some extra time so I am not late again to class and have time to find a parking space and walk to class.
4) Is there anything that you could have done to prevent the problem in the first place?
I think that nothing is always perfect and there is going to be some kind of problem on the way. So it is always better to have extra time than to need more time.

A) What differences do you find between high school and your classes at college? Were you expecting any of these differences? Which ones caught you off guard?
High School and college are somewhat different in many aspects. I think the best thing in college is that you can manage your time however you need to and want to, you do not have to stay 8 hours in school and follow all the weird rules and codes the high schools have, we definitely have more freedom in college than in high school, this anyways can be bad for some people that have to work or have a family or life far away from campus. Another change, not so positive is that you have to pay for classes, we all wish it was still free like high school was; but this is a way of showing that we have grown and now we are responsible for our future and our lives.
For me the transition of high school to college was positive, it was one more change in my life, since I am kind of use to move around a lot, I got use to meet different kind of people, be the new girl, and adjust to different places and schools. While I was doing my high school career I had to move at least six times, to a different country, different states and different high schools in the same area, so getting to college was a kind of refresh and start over for me. I know this time I am going to stay in this college for a while because now I am an independent woman and I make my own decisions now.
Even though I always was in a constant change and experience different things, one of the most choking things was when I was looking for a parking spot the first day of college. Every morning I wake up with enough time to eat something, take a shower, get ready and drive wherever I have to go, but I was not counting on a search of ten to fifteen minutes for a parking spot and then had to walk a long distance to get to the classroom. It was kind of ridiculous and off course I was late to class.
One more thing I was not expecting was the cost of the books. As a high school student the most you have to buy would be a pen or an index card or a poster board for a project but that does not go over 10 dollars. When I went to the college library to find out the cost of my books I was very surprised, I thought they were way too expensive but they are all necessary for each of my classes and if I want good grades I have to buy them somehow. In that aspect my budget was not ready at all and I found out myself short of money. In that moment I thought how much responsibilities I have now and ways to get more money, I am going to have to work more hours and try to work it out with my class schedule; I am also going to apply for financial aid and see if I get any money that way.
B).If you could warn an upcoming freshman about something to better prepare them for their first week, what would it be and why?
If I could warn an upcoming freshman about something to be better prepare it would be the time managing according to finding a parking space specially in the morning and in the beginning of the semester like the first 2 or 3 weeks. It is chaos to find an spot, sometimes it can be luck but most of the time you have to wake up a little earlier than usual so you can find something good and get to class on time. Another major thing is lines, every freshman has to get their ID card and parking sticker and the line can be really long and boring. It is better to get it the first two weeks because after that the room that you have to go to is going to be open only a few hours per week.
Something I find hard to manage sometimes is wanting to go to class, here in college you do not have a teacher calling to your house and telling your mommy you are not attending to class, here pretty much you do what you want to do, and if you choose not to show up to class no one is going to say anything, they are just going to fail you and you will lose your money and your time. Also try to buy the books and all the material you need the first week of school, because the teachers are going to give your homework from it the first day, here in college we do not waste time since it is only one semester and a lot of material, we do not have class everyday of the week like in high school and is only few hours of class. You are responsible now for getting all the materials including the book that you are going to need for each class.
